During our class session we got together as a large group and discussed what we would like to know from our client.
On monday morning after our first session we had a skype call with Nick- One person from each of our groups attended and he ran us through what the company does, how it works, and a little bit about what he wants. As a way of keeping track we recorded the entire interview.

A main goal was getting the 'story,' to the end customer. This story is that New Zealand is where the luxury starts. A difficult part about this problem is that by the time it reaches the customer the leather has been distorted and manufactured so that it looks completely different by the time it gets to the customer. With big time customers such as; Gucci, Dior, even within New Zealand Deadly Ponies, they will want the leather reflecting their own brand and their own label- not New Zealands.
Another issue is that with New Zealands' farming laws being as good as they are it becomes difficult to express how good New Zealands' products are without making their other products look less inferior.

An important idea I took from the interview is that the process from start to end is a lot more detailed and more intricate than I assumed. Nick told us about the traditional tanneries and how there is a small amount of them left across the world now and all they care about is price, quality and tradition. These tanneries are also located in different language zones across the world which creates an issue for us as we cant focus on English language being part of the design outcome.
Nick made a point of saying he would like a video campaign, and that the imagery would be the key aspect.
What now?
Research the leather process, what makes new zealand so special? what outcomes can we try?
