Materials-Brandon

To create a complete sensory experience there needs to be a succinct relationship between all of the materials. We need to have a conscious understanding of the cost of the materials and choosing the right material for each of the gift packages. The materials need to be able to showcase New Zealand; this will be through responsible use of natural materials and also reflect modern New Zealand design. Native timbers provide a sensory experience via their unique smells and distinctive texture which provides a uniquely New Zealand experience. Rimu timber is one of the most well know of native New Zealand timbers it is known for its excellent finishing qualities. It is also classified as a moderate durability timber which places it in the heartwood class of timbers. This means it is easy to use for a wide variety of applications. Combining this unique texture and distinct aroma with the tactile versatility of quality New Zealand leather delivers a truly New Zealand experience. As an additional option a well-designed cardboard package as a lower tier option there also there is the potential for a waxed cotton style package which is still cost effective yet stylish. The potential for a sticker seal as used by many different brands is a possibility for the lower tier of package but for the higher tier a bespoke wax seal which references the traditional.
