Questions:
what would you like for customers to take away from this experience?
- other tannerys give away A4 swatch cards, however we need to tell a story and it needs to be functional, something beautiful that sits on a desk, that is intriguing for a customer to look at and be reminded of. for example in the past we have used river stones rubbed in bees wax and etched into them, also have used wine boxes in the past made out of fences from NZ farms, this creates a nice story.
what makes you different to other leather supple companies in NZ, and to those in Australia and the south pacific?
a lot of the tannerys have older generations they don't have stories, and hard to relate when the generation difference between supplier and buyer is huge. this is what makes NZ luxury leathers different, they have the ability to connect with stories etc with the buyer.
what sort of relationship would you like to have with your customers?
one on one relationship is important. Making packaging have identity to the buyer is important. Designers usually move around companies a lot so having that relationship can give you and insight into other brands.
what type of samples would you like to have in your packages?
business cards-keeping it simple, hook them, showcases samples. Make it personal. make sure there are no custom issues when sending these packages overseas.
