Freelance Illustrator - can have 10 jobs at at time. Restrictions to this is that money can be tight at times as you never know when you have a job, positives are you can choose your own hours and work at home. Also a commercial illustrator, provides a service to clients e.g.. notebooks, wrapping paper, stationary etc.
Started off creating a website, almost like a portfolio. Works mostly with gouche paint, watercolours, pencils etc. Style: delicate, likes to mix up textures, telling a story through the illustrations, finding things that people can connect too
She created lots of pieces of work and put it online, as if you don't put your work out there no body will ever know about you/it. She went out to shops and looked at potential clients and researched. Also did online courses and got an agent.
Most of her clients are based in the US (90%), while the rest is mainly the UK. She creates book covers, editorial, soft toys, colouring books, bedding.
instagram is a powerful tool, try keep personal things on a different page, keep it friendly.
Clients are just people at the end of the day, keep things professional at all times, email them in a polite manner.
